Well done! The fact that you highlighted the misunderstood feeling of superiority the Japanese felt against the Chinese is great! It’s important to note that this was how the Japanese army justified their actions and brutality. I also really enjoyed the way you explained the political scenery in China at the time, where opposing parties, people from different classes and with different ideologies united in order to save themselves and their country. Overall, great job!

Excellent! The presentation represents the argument to the point. I especially, like the way it describes the destructive imperialist policy of the Nanking massacre. Then the feeling of superiority need to be control over territory reminded me the policy of “land grabbing” of capitalists as well.
I liked your consideration about General Mao’s effect in China, I agree that it is controversial that he had written his writing two years ago before the massacre, as if he knew that it will happen. Great presentation! I liked that the pictures and sources were included, thank you! I
This is a very well-put-together essay. I really like the fact that you managed to showcase the difference between the imperial matures of Japan and the Western powers. Japan’s imperial ideology essentially stemmed from their belief that they were superior to the Chinese and were divinely destined to win. As such, the countless atrocities committed in Nanking were justified as no more than punishment levied on an inferior race for resisting Japanese superiority, in the consciousness of the Japanese. I also appreciate how you managed to analyze the then-political landscape of China through the lens of the invasion of Nanking and the subsequent horrors. Thank you so much for the thought-provoking piece.
This essay was very well done since it highlighted just how gruesome Japanese imperialism was through the use of multiple sources. I really liked the fact that you discussed Japanese brutality first and then delved deeper into the implications this had for creating a disjointed China. It made for a powerful argument in showing that this was not like any other kind of colonialism we’ve discussed thus far.
One suggestion for improvement I have, however, is expanding on the multiple factions that came together in China. They’re kind of glossed over and talking more about them would make for a stronger argument in how the destructive Japanese imperialism created this political change in China. Overall though, this was a great read and insight into the Invasion of Nanking!
I like the way you explained Japanese’s invasion in political and destructive nature. The feeling of superiority, comparison between Western colonization and Japanese’s invasion were clearly presented. Good job!
Nice post! Few things that personally I think would excel this presentation even more..
1- Dive deeper into the pre-history of these events between Japan and China to help set the foundation for what is about to happen during the Nanking disaster.
2- Great incorporation of images, but a little unclear as to what specifically they are depicting. Maybe go into a little more depth about what the pictures are exhibiting.
3- There were a few sentences that felt a little long and run-on like. keep your thoughts as concise and compact as possible to ease the reader into taking all this information in.
Great job! This essay is really an interesting insight into the Nanjing Massacre, the use of primary sources is quite apparent and I think it makes this essay more detailed. I like the fact that the true nature of the Japanese Imperialism is duly portrayed. Well done.
